What is E-Coat?

E-Coat is a high performance coating that offers protection and visual appeal. The “coating” is applied using an electroplating process. The E-Coat materials (such as resins, pigments, additives, etc.) are dispersed into water and held in a plating bath. Electric current causes a layer of resin (including any pigments and additives) to adhere to the surface with complete coverage and consistent thickness regardless of complexity. E-Coat can be “tinted” or pigmented in order to produce a broad range of finishes. Once the E-Coat process is completed, a curing cycle is required using an infrared oven to ensure the finish is hard and durable.

E-Coat finishes are used across a wide range of industries including architectural hardware, security products, automotive, optical, and other consumer goods.

Benefits of E-Coat:

  • UV Light Resistance
  • Complete Coverage
  • Consistent Thickness
  • Corrosion Protection
  • Wear / Abrasion Resistance
  • Decorative Appeal

E-Coat vs Alternative Processes
